Project Type: Residential | Addition/Renovation
Project Year: 2017
Area: 1,850 sq. ft.
Location: Durham, NC
The clients were looking to reprogram the entry sequence to their mid century modern house in Durham, NC by enhancing the heavily wooded landscape and driveway, as well as adding a new carport, covered entry path, new entry/foyer, and a new deck. The design, although bold in its own right, finds balance with the existing house and newly designed site. The most iconic part of the design is the use of 2 massive steel beams, which were pristinely crafted and assembled by Leo Gaev Metalworks, Inc. The beams are supported by 4 steel columns, 2 of which will be hidden within the wall cavities of the new walls of the entry/foyer, while the other two are seen on the exterior. It’s been exciting to see this project come together.
